Roughly 500 Beta Club students came together yesterday at West Farm Corn Maze for a day of fellowship and service. Beta Clubs recognize high academic achievement, foster leadership skills and encourage community service. All eight BCSD high school Beta Clubs led food drives at their respective schools to pool and transfer their donations to a trailer at West Farm headed for Feed Berkeley.

Students at our schools honored the rich cultural tradition of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) last week. The vibrant holiday known for iconic painted calaveras originates in Mexico and serves as an invitation to reflect on the importance of family and heritage. Though this day falls outside of Hispanic Heritage Month, schools like Hanahan High included the day as a part of cultural enrichment activities with beautiful and informative cross curricular lessons.

We don't just hand out treats on Halloween; we share the magic of reading! As they have for many years, our team members from our Division of Academics and Innovation handed out children's books at yesterday's Halloween festival in Moncks Corner.

Congratulations are in order for Berkeley High's and Stratford High's Beta Club sponsors! Both sets of sponsors achieved 2023- 2024 National Beta Educator of Excellence status. This is highest honor a Beta sponsor can receive and nationally only 257 out of 20,000 sponsors earned this award.
