
Graduation season is officially upon us! Today, high school seniors around the district revisited their old stomping grounds to reflect on their time in BCSD and inspire our younger students.

These bus drivers show up and show out for our students every single day, literally. Yesterday, we held a surprise party for all our bus drivers who had PERFECT attendance this school year. Again, thank you for always being there for our students! 💛

#DYK: Nationally, roughly 10 percent of recent high school graduates enlist in the military? These BCSD students have proudly taken up the mantle to protect and serve our country and attended the Military Honor Cord Ceremony hosted by Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver and SCDE this week.

Our FBLA students from Berkeley Middle, Berkeley High, Cane Bay High, Cross High and Timberland High took care of business at this year's State Leadership Conference! All first place finishers were recognized at our most recent board meeting.

Nurses are the beating heart of healthcare. To celebrate #NationalSchoolNurseDay, BCSD Nursing Services delivered solar-powered Bluetooth headphones to our school nurses for providing outstanding care to all our students! Keep up the great work, ladies!

The future of the healthcare industry looks bright with these students at the helm. At yesterday's board meeting, we recognized all our HOSA students who won first place in individual or group competitions at the HOSA State Leadership Conference and Hanahan High's Audrianna Amara who was elected South Carolina HOSA State Secretary.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Our teachers go above and beyond for their students. They inspire our students to be lifelong learners and push them to reach their full potential every day.


Today is Principal Appreciation Day! Our school principals are an integral part of helping us make a positive difference in Berkeley County. They lead our schools with positivity, heart and determination.


We've got some accomplished kids in BCSD! Last night, Stratford High's JROTC archery team, Hanahan High's "Hawk's Eye View" and Nina Nassyrov from Philip Simmons Middle were recognized by our school board for their competition wins on the state and national level.




It always feels good to give back. Through fundraising efforts at five of our schools, students in our mentoring programs at Cross High, Berkeley High, Goose Creek High, Hanahan High and Berkeley Alternative were able to donate $2,000 to the Ronald McDonald House in downtown Charleston! Special thanks to Home Telecom for providing lunch at today's check presentation!

Spring has sprung! We hope all our students have a safe and fun spring break! Students will return to school April 21.


We've got some state champs in the house! At last night's board meeting, we recognized the amazing accomplishments of Berkeley High's girls' basketball team and our individual state champion wrestlers. Congratulations to the Lady Stags, Montero Royal , Sydney Mitchem, and Wyatt Thames on their incredible seasons!

The No Hate Tour stuck the landing at Goose Creek High and Hanahan High! These BMX stars wowed students with their high-energy bike tricks while also delivering an impactful anti-bullying message.

Our students have a heart for healthcare. Earlier this month, Berkeley Middle, Cane Bay High, Hanahan High and Philip Simmons High competed at the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) State Leadership Conference. All four schools walked away with multiple awards and HHS's Audrianna Amara was even elected South Carolina HOSA State Secretary!





Class is in session! Participants in Leadership Berkeley stopped by to hear about how we're setting up our students for success directly from Superintendent Dixon and some of our CTE students. Leadership Berkeley is a 10-month program for community and business leaders in Berkley County to learn more about the county and make a positive difference in it. #makingapositivedifference

Our 2024 District Ambassadors Academy program wrapped up Tuesday night at Carolyn Lewis School. This is a very special initiative involving residents and Berkeley County business/community leaders, designed to provide an insider’s perspective of how the district operates.

We've got some smart cookies in BCSD! At our recent board meeting, we recognized all our BCSD Betas who won first place in individual or group competitions at the South Carolina Senior Beta Convention.






BCSD students who come out to Cane Bay High on Saturday, March 15 will get to participate in a free food tasting experience and cast their vote on which food menu items they liked the best and want to see featured in their school cafeterias. Samples are being provided by vendors such as Hershey’s Ice Cream, Tyson Foods, General Mills/Pillsbury, Butterball, Buena Vista, Dole and more. Vendors will show products that are currently offered on the menu in addition to new items.
“Taste, Play, Connect” will be held at Cane Bay High from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The school is located at 1624 State Road in Summerville.
