It's not every day our students get to perform beside world-renowned musicians. In their final concert of the semester, Goose Creek Steel Bands played with the First Citizens Supernovas Steel Orchestra from Trinidad and Tobago. Featured on National Geographic Travelers Magazine, the Supernovas Steel Orchestra is a dynamic musical group known for their eclectic repertoire, and they're consistently finalist in the National Panorama Steel Band competition.

A trophy just wasn't enough...bring out the banner! Poetry is kind of a big ~dill~ at Philip Simmons High! To get students interested in reading poetry during #NationalPoetryMonth, PSH's school librarian, Constance McClanahan, challenges students to check out a book of poetry for a pickle. By the end of the month, Dr. McClanahan goes through jars of kosher dills!

WOW! Students in our Take the Lead mentoring program raised $6,000 in support of the Ronald McDonald House in downtown Charleston, which is TRIPLE the amount they donated last year. Kudos to all our mentees on this incredible achievement —especially those from Cane Bay High, who donated the most to this special cause.

Our Head Start students are purpling up for military kids! Our Office of Student Support Services, which is essential to supporting our military families as they transition to living in Berkeley County, hosted a cookout at the Fishburne Educational Center in celebration of Month of the Military Child. 💜
