Our teachers are LOVED! Dozens of our students asked to fill out thank you cards for their teachers tonight while we were at the SC Stingrays game!

Community is more than just a word to us. Thank you to all the families, vendors and BCSD team members who came out to our first-ever Family Engagement Summit.

Our middle school student leaders want to make their schools better than ever! To achieve that goal, students from nine of our middle schools gathered at Westview Middle to brainstorm how they can improve their schools' culture at the BCSD Middle School Leadership Conference. #makingapositivedifference #studentleaders

This week we hosted our first-ever MLK Observation Breakfast for over 100 BCSD employees and prominent community members. The breakfast also served as a moment to publicly recognize and reward our students who placed in this year's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Contest. View the contest winners at https://www.bcsdschools.net/article/1426114.

We were all smiles this week as Brandy Incorvia of Santee Cooper presented a generous check that will have a powerful impact on our programs and schools. We are thankful for the incredible support we receive from business partners like Santee Cooper. Together, we are truly making a positive difference in Berkeley County!

Eva "Cate" Angle, an eighth grader at Daniel Island School, earned the top spot at our district spelling bee last night after correctly spelling the word cauterize! She, along with eight more BCSD students, will head to the regional bee in March. Best of luck!

Due to forecasts for continued severe weather resulting in area power outages, and concerns regarding impacts on roads and facilities throughout the evening, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) schools and offices will operate on a 2-hour weather delay on Wednesday, January 10.
There will be no before school care programs, but after school programs and athletics will resume normal operations on Wednesday.
Bus riders will report to bus stops two hours later than their regularly scheduled time. Information concerning school start times and bell schedules when operating on a 2-hour weather delay is available on the BCSD website here: https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/school-bell-schedules.
District officials are continuing to work closely with the Berkeley County Emergency Management Department, local power providers, and law enforcement to monitor the weather and potential impact on the county. Officials are also receiving regular updates from the National Weather Service.
As safety and security is our number one priority, all decisions are made with the safety of students, staff, and families in mind.

Due to the potential for severe weather on Tuesday, January 9, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) announced that students will learn from home and complete eLearning Day assignments on Tuesday. All schools and offices will be closed Tuesday. Schools and offices will resume normal operations on Wednesday, January 10.

After a bunch of hard work by our students last semester, St. Stephen Elementary and the middle schoolers at Cross High were named January's i-Ready Super Schools. Because both groups of students showed the most improvement in their i-Ready math scores since the start of school, SSE and CHS get to keep the coveted banners until February. #makingapositivedifference

This is how we feel when we remember students return to school tomorrow! Let's get ready to tackle the rest of the 2023 - 2024 school year! #makingapositivedifference

The joy of the holiday season is alive and well at Boulder Bluff Elementary! Before school let out, BBE pre-K students gave a spirited performance for residents from local senior living facilities and made gingerbread houses with them.

Congratulations to Stratford High's Santiago Balagtas and Emmitt Bryant, and Goose Creek High's Harrison Chandler, on being selected for the highly-coveted South Carolina Band Director’s Association Honors Jazz Combo!

The holidays are always a great time to reflect and give back to the community. Last week, we gathered at Trident United Way’s warehouse in Moncks Corner to join other volunteers in packing boxes with fresh produce to be picked up by residents through TUW's FoodShare program.

On these cold winter mornings, nothing feels better than warming up with a hot cup of coffee. Thank you to everyone who came out to Hurricane Coffee for our last Coffee & Conversations event of 2023. Stay tuned to see if Superintendent Dixon is coming to a local coffee shop near you in the new year!

This week, MenRiv was bustling with volunteers – including Berkeley High seniors – all working hard to make help make this the best holiday season ever for more than 200 BCSD students in need. A BIG thank you to everyone who donated gifts to Berkeley ONEderland this year and helped us make some holiday magic happen!
