HSE / GED Returning Student Registration

Registration Dates

Appointments are available on ONE of the following dates:

Monday–Wednesday, July 13–15, 2026 | 8:30 a.m.
Thursday, July 16, 2026 | 8:30 a.m. (FEC only)

What To Bring

Valid South Carolina Photo ID
Registration fee: $50 (due on the day of registration - NO exceptions) or SNAP card

Registration Time / First Day of Class

Registration takes approximately 3 hours. Please plan to stay for the entire process.
The first day of class is Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026

Mandatory Orientation

Adult Learning Center (ALCE) - Day AND Evening Students
- Wednesday and Thursday
- July 22–23, 2026
- 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Attendance is required both days.
Fishburne Education Center (FEC) Day Students
- Wednesday & Thursday
- July 29–30, 2026
- 8:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
- Attendance is required both days.
- Please Note: GED night classes are not offered at FEC.

Evening Students (ALC Only):

Mandatory Testing and Orientation
- Monday–Thursday
- Aug.t 31 – Sept. 3, 2026
- 5 – 7:45 p.m.
- Location: Adult Learning Center (ALC)
- Please Note: Evening GED classes are not offered at FEC.

First Day of Class
- The first day of class will be Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026.

Additional GED (HSE) Registration Opportunities

Applications must be completed at least 72 hours before registration begins. All registration and orientation sessions will be held at Fishburne Education Center.

ESL Returning Student Registration

Registration Dates

Aug. 3-4, 2026
Location: Fishburne Education Center
Please Note: August 3–4 are the only registration dates for returning ESL students. Anyone who misses registration will be placed back on the waiting list.

Registration and Placement Testing

8:30 a.m. - 11 a.m., or 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

What to Bring

Bring ONE of the following:
- U.S. Birth Certificate
- REAL ID-Compliant Identification Card
- Department of Homeland Security (DHS) documentation verifying immigration status, such as:
  - Form I-94 (Arrival/Departure Record)
  - Employment Authorization Document (EAD)
  - Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
  - Other DHS-issued travel documents
Registration fee
- $100 cash only, due on the day of registration

First Day of Class

Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026

Important Information

No appointment is necessary.
Once registration begins, you must remain until the process is complete.
Students who leave before completing registration will lose their registration spot.

ESL New Student Registration

Students are placed in classes according to:
- English proficiency level
- Available classroom space

Underaged Application Form, if the student is 17 at the time of enrollment
Official withdrawal form from your current high school

Deadline to submit school records: July 17, 2026

Enrollment Opportunity

Students may enroll in the HSD program throughout the school year if there is sufficient time to complete graduation requirements before the end of the school year.
