Berkeley County School District will again participate in the Community Eligibility Provision for the 2026-2027 school year.
This is a special program through the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs that allows all students at participating schools to receive free breakfast and lunch each school day – no application required.
What this means for families:
No cost for school meals – All enrolled students at CEP schools will receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch every day at no charge.
No meal application needed – Parents do not need to submit a free/reduced meal form to qualify.
Snacks and extra items – Students may still purchase snacks, drinks or additional meals if they wish.
Previous charges – If a child is transferring from a non-CEP school, any existing meal charges from the previous school still need to be paid.
The CEP program makes it easier for families by removing the need for meal applications while supporting student nutrition and school participation. Meals will continue to meet USDA guidelines for healthy eating.
If a parent does not want their child to participate in the CEP meal program, they are encouraged to contact the BCSD Child Nutrition Services Department (contact information is below).

Additional Parent Information
Household Income Forms: You may be asked to submit a Household Income Form. Completing this form has no effect on your child’s meal benefits, but it may help your family qualify for other support services, such as fee waivers or income-based assistance. These forms are available at your school, and failure to submit may impact eligibility for those other services.
Important: If you have students in both CEP and non-CEP schools, be sure to list all household members when completing income forms.
