Berkeley County School District enjoyed a huge turnout from the community when officials cut the ribbon for Midtown Middle, which is opening just in time for the 2026-2027 school year.
Midtown Middle is located in the Nexton and will serve the area's growing community. This is one of two brand new schools to join the district this year; the other is Bee Tree Elementary.
Following the ribbon cutting, guests moved into the building's multipurpose room for a program that included a group of future Midtown students leading the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. Students were very hands-on during Tuesday's event, assembling and handing out space-themed goodie bags to visitors. Everyone also got to do a tour of the downstairs portion of the building.
In keeping up with the theme, the school had the district's StarLab set up in the gym, and the iTow truck allowed students to tinker with some robots and create keychains with the Midtown Middle logo. The Sweet Sips Pink Drink truck was also on site.
