teaching fellows plaque

Berkeley County School District is excited to recognize the graduating seniors listed below who are recipients of the Teaching Fellows scholarship.

The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program, administered by the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (or CERRA), is a competitive initiative that recruits outstanding high school seniors into the teaching profession.

The Teaching Fellows Program is available at Anderson University, Charleston Southern University, Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Francis Marion University, Lander University, Newberry College, North Greenville University, the University of South Carolina (Aiken, Columbia and Upstate) and Winthrop University. Each Teaching Fellows Institution (TFI) has a Campus Director who works closely with the cohort of Fellows throughout their higher education experience. Teaching Fellows participate in enrichment programs, have professional development opportunities, are involved with S.C. communities and businesses, and receive up to $6,000 in annual fellowships for four years while completing a degree leading to initial teacher certification.

This year, BCSD had 13 students who were accepted into a college program to pursue the education track after high school. Cane Bay High had the most recipients in the state from one school.
