Hanahan Middle has a brand new look just in time for an upcoming brand new school year.
Berkeley County School District and the Hanahan community came together Thursday evening for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Hanahan Middle's major renovation project. The event was very well-attended, with students and families eager to finally see the inside of the school, which has been under construction since the 2024-2025 school year. VIEW PHOTOS.
Hanahan Middle serves a growing student population, and the renovation and expansion will provide first class facilities and space to accommodate a growing student population. Since 2024, Hanahan Middle students and staff have operated on a temporary, modular campus at Hanahan Elementary. District and construction officials broke ground on the project in March 2025, and the building will welcome students on the first day of school this August.
Following the ribbon cutting, visitors had the opportunity to get their first look at the inside of the school and walk the hallways on the main level. Since this is one of three schools in BCSD that houses student Hawks, it was only appropriate to keep the evening hawk-themed, so the Center for Birds of Prey was also on site with a red-tailed hawk to teach visitors the importance of the bird.
