Berkeley County School District’s teachers certainly have some bright ideas in store for their classrooms.

The district had multiple teachers score Bright Ideas grants from Berkeley Electric Cooperative this year. The Bright Ideas program supports innovative and effective classroom education curricula that cannot be covered by traditional school financing. Both individual teachers and groups of teachers can now apply for grants up to $1,500.

Teachers in public and private schools serving grades K-12 in Berkeley Electric Cooperative’s service area are eligible to participate. Grants are awarded for projects in any discipline and are intended to help teachers within Berkeley Electric Cooperative’s service area produce a better-educated workforce. The grants are designed to help teachers introduce innovative teaching methods.

Grants are awarded annually in a competitive evaluation process. Teachers were recently recognized during Berkeley Electric Cooperative’s Bright Ideas 5K, held April 25 in Cypress Gardens. VIEW PHOTOS (photos courtesy of Berkeley Electric Cooperative).
