Annually, Berkeley County School District Conference Day gathers teachers from across the district together for a day of professional development opportunities. Now, BCSD school counselors can also say the same.
For the first time ever, BCSD's Office of Student Support Services invited all school counselors to the Fishburne Educational Center for a day of professional development and recognition. Counselors could receive six hours of re-certification credits for their work throughout the day.
Sessions focused on topics like counselor burnout, addressing trauma in students and schools, using AI in the counseling position and more. Following lunch, there was a keynote speech by Christia Murdaugh on how counselors can continue to soar above obstacles and continue to show up for their students and schools.
Hands down, the highlight of the day was the Celebration of Excellence where 10 awards were given to school counselors who are making a huge positive difference in BCSD.
