performers on stage

Fine Arts “season” is in full swing in Berkeley County School District.

Sedgefield Middle dance students took the stage Wednesday night to show their families everything they have been working on this semester.

The school’s Dance Showcase, led by dance teacher Kaitlyn Salvage, took place inside Goose Creek High’s auditorium. Sixth through eighth grade students wowed the audience with dance moves ranging from contemporary to jazz to hip hop. VIEW PHOTOS.

Salvage is now in her third year directing the school’s dance program. Salvage told audience members this year is particularly special, as she is officially working with eighth graders who have been under her tutelage ever since their sixth grade year and will soon be graduating middle school.

Salvage left a note in the program detailing how proud she is of her students for all their hard work, and that they have grown now just as dancers, but as leaders, collaborators and confident performers.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have a career that allows me to witness students develop a true passion for dance,” she wrote. “It’s an honor to work with so many eager and dedicated learners.”
