Blue is Cross High's color!
After a lengthy application process, Cross High was officially recognized as a South Carolina Blue Ribbon School at the South Carolina State House yesterday. The award was presented to Principal Tiffany Brown and Superintendent Anthony Dixon by S.C. Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver and Governor Henry McMaster. CHS was one of six schools in the state to receive the award.
"Being named a South Carolina Blue Ribbon School is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our students, staff, and families. Together, we've proven that when you set high expectations, provide equitable opportunities and believe in every student's potential, excellence follows," Principal Brown said. "This recognition isn't just about our success—it's about our commitment to ensuring that every student thrives."
The Blue Ribbon Schools program highlights public and private schools nationally that demonstrate a high level of student performance or significant improvements in closing achievement gaps. Originally facilitated by the U.S. Department of Education, the program has been recognizing schools that embody excellence in education for the past 40 years. This year the administration of the program was moved to the state level.
Cross High is a true community school and Principal Brown acknowledged that the school's strong sense of community, coupled with ingenuity, has made all the difference for its students.
"When a school fosters a strong sense of community and encourages creative, outside-of-the-box thinking, it creates an environment where students and staff feel valued, supported and inspired," Principal Brown said.
While Cross High may be small in number, its students are overflowing with potential. Congratulations, Trojans!
