BCSD and community officials gathered Saturday to celebrate the official reopening of the former J.K. Gourdin Elementary School building for district operations and approved external rentals.
While no longer operating as an elementary school, the facility will now support various district initiatives and offer rental access for approved outside organization's through the district's facility use process.
Immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony, attendees were welcome to check out the first public event in the reopened space: the North Berkeley Youth & Community Summit, which was led by Ignite Tech Youth and organized in partnership with five local community organizations.
