Berkeley County School District celebrated another big construction milestone this week: Midtown Middle has officially been “topped off”.
Topping Off (or “Out”) ceremonies recognize the placement of the final beam at the highest point of a new building. Representatives from the district and Vannoy Construction came together to autograph a large white beam before a crane lifted it up and placed it on the roof of the building. Signees also wrote well wishes onto the beam. VIEW PHOTOS.
Midtown Middle is located in Nexton and slated to open its doors to students in August 2026.
Superintendent Dr. Anthony S. Dixon said this occasion is a symbol of what’s to come, and that the school will be a great place for students to learn and grow.
“This is answering the need of our Nexton community,” he said. “Midtown Middle is very important to our district and the growth that is taking place.”
