Berkeley County School District board members made several administrative appointments during Monday night’s board meeting.
New administrators were joined by family, friends and colleagues as they were recognized during the board meeting; all appointments passed unanimously by board members.
All of the following administrators’ contracts begin in July.
Dr. Monique Capers
Dr. Monique Capers will enter her first-ever administrative role in the district as assistant principal at Berkeley Elementary. Capers is currently a second grade teacher at Westview Primary. She has more than 20 years’ experience working in schools and just received her doctorate in education from South Carolina State University. She studied early childhood education at Claflin University and holds a Masters of Teaching degree from South Carolina State University.
Ginger McCoy, the current assistant principal at Berkeley Elementary, will transition to serve Nexton Elementary.
Brianna Krebs
Brianna Krebs will move on from her current role as an assistant administrator at Hanahan Elementary to assistant principal at Cane Bay Elementary. Krebs joined BCSD in 2008 as a second grade teacher at Berkeley Elementary. She then taught first grade at Boulder Bluff Elementary for 10 years before transitioning to an instructional coach. She was also the Lighthouse Facilitator/Coordinator for Boulder Bluff, which is a Leader In Me school. Among her certifications, Krebs holds a National Board Certification.
Jessica Coates
After serving as an assistant administrator at College Park Elementary since 2018, Jessica Coates will join Whitesville Elementary as an assistant principal. She joined BCSD in 2006, teaching kindergarten and first grade at Devon Forest Elementary before joining Cainhoy Elementary in 2014, where she took on the role of K-8 Curriculum Coach before moving on to College Park. Coates studied early childhood education at Francis Marion University. She also has a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Southern Wesleyan University.
