We consider ourselves lucky to serve the best students in South Carolina by providing them with state-of-the-art facilities and a high-quality education. In fall of 2026, a fully renovated Hanahan Middle School will open its doors to students.
BCSD Recognizes Teachers of the Year
All of BCSD's Teachers of the Year were recognized during the Monday, March 3, 2025 meeting of the Berkeley County Board of Education. The formal recognition from the Board happens yearly each spring, preceding several events meant to honor their contributions to the children and families of BCSD.
Big Top Recruitment Event
BCSD hosted its homecoming-themed fall hiring event on Nov. 21. There were festive decorations, food trucks, children's activities and a "halftime show" performed by BHS and THS drumline students.
Berkeley Unified Fall Games
Throughout November, BCSD hosted multiple Unified Games events for students with special needs across the district. At the event, student athletes rotated around stations that focused on different motor skills and activities like dancing, soccer, volleyball, football and more.
BCSD Homecoming Hiring Event

Sangaree Middle Unified Halloween Dance
General education and special services students from Sangaree Middle, Hanahan Middle, Sedgefield Middle, Westview Middle, St. Stephen Middle and Philip Simmons Middle met up for a spooktacular time at SRM's Unified Halloween Dance.
Moncks Corner Lions Club Jamboree
Six football teams faced off on Aug. 16 to preview the upcoming 2024 football season. Stratford High faced off against Andrews, Goose Creek played against Philip Simmons High, and Berkeley High's rivalry against Timberland was reignited.

After an intensive two week program, over 200 Berkeley County School District fine arts students put on a fabulous Summer STEP Finale. Performing for friends and family, students from five artistic disciplines - music, theater, visual arts, dance and creative writing - shined on stage and showcased their amazing artwork.
2024 Teacher of the Year Breakfast
Rebecca Rawls Croskey from Cane Bay Middle was named BCSD's Teacher of the Year at the annual Teacher of the Year Breakfast on April 26.

2024 OneBerkeley United Games
OneBerkeley United Games came back this year, this time at Stratford High, for a day of fun with roughly 20 schools from around the district. The event promotes inclusion and unity among students of all abilities in BCSD.
Berkeley County Kids Who Care
Nature is sometimes our greatest teacher. This week, roughly 700 BCSD elementary students spent a morning exploring the natural world at NatureScope in Old Santee Canal Park.

The annual Berkeley County Track and Field Championships was held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Cane Bay High. Philip Simmons High claimed the title among male teams. Goose Creek High claimed the title among female teams.
2024 Unified Spring Games
Goose Creek High and Berkeley High hosted the Unified Games this week for student athletes with special needs on the southern and northern end of BCSD.

BCSD Transportation Perfect Attendance Party
Students aren't the only ones who get rewarded for perfect attendance! BCSD Transportation held a surprise party for its 13 bus drivers who had perfect attendance this school year. Drivers were treated to lunch and got some great BCSD Transportation swag.
Turnaround 2024
BCSD’s annual Turnaround Achievement Award program is a long-standing tradition that recognizes students who have tackled hardships and obstacles, both at school and at home, but went above and beyond to better themselves for the sake of their academics.
2024 March Madness
Berkeley High hosted the March Madness Unified Basketball game on Thursday, March 21. Students from Berkeley High and the visiting Hanahan High special services classrooms joined forces with their buddies to play a series of basketball games in the gym.
2024 Teacher Forum Induction
On March 22, every 2024 Teacher of the Year was inducted into BCSD Teacher Forum during a ceremony at Freedom Church. At the event, the district's top three teachers in the running for BCSD District Teacher of the Year were announced. Congratulations to Rebecca Croskey, Stormey Walker and William S. Chasserreau!
2024 Build-A-Shed Competition
Students from Berkeley High and Cross High's building construction programs recently participated in the 2024 Build-A-Shed competition at Ladson fairgrounds. The schools were among six teams total competing in building the sheds.
