We have recently observed multiple vehicles parking along Charles B. Gibson while waiting to pick up students. This practice creates a serious safety concern for our students, staff, and community.
For the safety of all, students must be picked up through the designated car rider line only. Parking along Charles B. Gibson to collect students is not permitted.
Effective immediately, we are implementing measures to discourage this unsafe behavior. If your child is a car rider, please ensure you enter and remain in the official car rider line for dismissal beginning today.
Student safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your cooperation and support in keeping our dismissal process safe and orderly.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Sincerely,
Dr. Cowan

I hope you and your families enjoyed a wonderful holiday season. We are excited to welcome students back on Tuesday, January 6th, as we begin a strong second semester.
I would also like to remind you about our upcoming Winterfest event on January 14th, where we are anticipating a great turnout. During Winterfest, parents will have the opportunity to receive study tips, check PowerSchool, review attendance and grades, and participate in important conversations about bullying, conflict resolution, mental health, and how to understand DRC Beacon scores. More information will be shared soon, and we look forward to seeing you there. A meal will be provided during Winterfest.
I also want to address a few school reminders:
Blankets at school: Several students have been arriving with blankets. Please ensure your child does not bring blankets to school.
Cell phone policy: We continue to see a high number of students using cell phones during the school day. As a reminder, the state and BCSD cell phone policy requires that phones remain off and stored in students’ book bags.
We appreciate your support in reinforcing the expectations outlined above with your child.
Thank you for your continued partnership. We look forward to a productive and positive second semester!
