Hello SFM Families and Guardians,
As we reach the midpoint of this important grading period, I would like to share a few reminders. Please note that students will not be in school on Friday, and schools will also be closed on Monday in observance of Presidents’ Day.
This is a critical time as we prepare for the SC READY assessments in early May. In March, students will participate in a testing checkpoint through DRC Beacon. Over the next few months, the consistent effort students demonstrate each day will play a meaningful role in their performance on the SC READY assessments, which are now less than three months away. Our goal is for every student to finish strong—like the Seattle Seahawks!
If you have read all the way to this point, thank you for being an incredible parent and a valued supporter of the work we do at SFM. Your partnership makes a difference in the success of our students.
Warm regards,
Dr. C

Hello, SFM Parents and Guardians,
We are pleased to share that Dr. Martin Wright began serving as our Interim Assistant Principal today. With more than 25 years of experience as a Principal, Deputy Superintendent/Chief Academic Officer, and Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Wright brings a deep background in instructional leadership, educator support, and school accountability.
Throughout his career, Dr. Wright has supported teachers and administrators through professional learning, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts, while ensuring alignment with state and district expectations. We look forward to the leadership and support that Dr. Wright will bring to our school community.

Hello SFM Parents and Guardians,
“Student access to SC Discus, South Carolina's Virtual Library, was temporarily restricted in February in response to parent concerns regarding age-appropriate content. This step was taken in accordance with S.C. Code Regs. § 43-170, which requires school districts to ensure digital and print resources meet educational and age-appropriateness standards.
District leadership collaborated with key stakeholders, including the South Carolina Department of Education and the South Carolina State Library, to conduct a review of SC Discus. As a result, access to SC Discus was restored on high school student devices prior to the start of the school year. The district has also determined that SC Discus will be available on middle school student devices beginning on January 15, 2026.
If you do not want your student to use SC Discus, please complete, sign, and return the opt out form to your child’s librarian.
