Henry “Jerome” Stewart, a proud native of St. Stephen, South Carolina, has built a respected legacy rooted in faith, leadership, and service to young people. A graduate of St. Stephen High School, he continued his education at South Carolina State College, where he strengthened the foundation for a lifelong commitment to athletics and mentorship. 

Jerome dedicated 35 years to coaching high school basketball, becoming one of the most influential figures in his region’s athletic community. Over the course of his career, he achieved an extraordinary 470 career wins, a testament to his strategic mind, competitive spirit, and unwavering belief in his players.

His coaching excellence earned him roles as both head coach and assistant coach for the prestigious North/South All-Star Game and the All-Star Challenge Game, opportunities reserved for the state’s most respected leaders in high school basketball.

In 2003, Jerome reached one of the highest achievements in South Carolina athletics by winning the State AAA Championship, cementing his place among the state’s elite coaches. He also guided his team to a AA State Runner-Up finish in 2016, further showcasing his consistency, vision, and ability to build strong, disciplined programs.

Beyond the accolades and victories, Jerome is known for his deep Christian faith, which has guided his life, his leadership, and the compassion he shows to others. Off the court, he is a devoted lover of dogs, who have brought him joy, comfort, and companionship throughout the years.
