Head JV Boys Coach Neal Wiggins

Antenniel “Niel” Wiggins, a native of St. Stephen, South Carolina, is a former multi-sport athlete whose love for football and basketball has shaped both his life and career. A proud 3-year letterman in both sports at St. Stephen High School, Niel’s talent and dedication earned him a football scholarship to Virginia Union University, where he spent three years as a committed quarterback and deepened his passion for the game.

Before coaching, Niel dedicated 19 years to the Charleston papermill. After a serious back injury forced him to step away from the job he had long relied on, he faced one of the most challenging chapters of his life. That turning point led to an unexpected opportunity: a call from Coach Jerome Stewart, who told him, “I know you can’t move around that much, but I sure can use your eyes and your knowledge.” Those words opened the door to coaching—and ultimately gave Niel a renewed sense of purpose.

Now entering his fourth year coaching at Timberland High School and his second year as the Junior Varsity Head Coach, Niel brings passion, resilience, and wisdom to every practice and every player. He is driven by a genuine love for kids and a commitment to helping them succeed both on and off the field.

Outside of coaching, Niel enjoys spending time with family and friends, basketball, football, cars, seafood, soul food, and his favorite sweet treat—Skittles. His journey is a testament to perseverance, purpose, and the power of giving back.
