H.E. Bonner Elementary is excited to see Michael Shaw join the staff as the school’s new principal this year.
Families are invited to come out to the school on Tuesday, Aug. 4 for a meet and greet with the new principal; more information is below.
Shaw studied business education, with a minor in math, at West Liberty State College. He received his Masters in Education degree in School Administration from Charleston Southern University.
All 36 years of Shaw’s education career have been served in Berkeley County School District. He taught at Macedonia Middle from 1990 to 2001; during that time, he had the opportunity to teach math, science and social studies across multiple grade levels.
He then joined Berkeley Intermediate (now Moncks Corner Elementary) to serve as assistant principal until he was named principal in 2008.
Shaw said he is looking forward to returning to the area that helped shape him as an educator and a leader in BCSD.
“It is an honor to return to the Macedonia area as the Principal of H. E. Bonner Elementary,” Shaw said. “I look forward to serving this incredible community with passion, integrity and unwavering commitment to every child's success.”
H.E. Bonner Elementary will welcome families on Aug. 4 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for a “Popcorn with the Principal” event. Families can meet Shaw and, of course, enjoy some popcorn.
This is a very casual, drop-in style event. Thinking about attending? Let us know by clicking HERE.
