Parent Letter
Hello, This is Principal Gabriel at FBE. Thank you to everyone for following our morning procedures and routines. If you have a someone other than yourself bringing your child to school for you, please go over where they should drop them off depending if they are a car rider or walker. Last year, FBE held an open house in September. Due to the low attendance rate, it was decided that we would only hold the Back to School Bash in August. If you would like to meet with your child's teacher about what they are learning or have any other questions, please contact them to set up an appointment. We appreciate everyone's patience and support at FBE. Thank you

Due to the potential for severe weather resulting from Hurricane Idalia, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) schools will follow the half-day dismissal bell schedule (https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/school-bell-schedules) on Wednesday, August 30. Thursday, August 31, students will learn from home and complete eLearning Day assignments. All schools and offices will be closed Thursday. BCSD will resume normal operations Friday, September 1. Before and after-school care programs, activities, and athletics, to include practices and games, are canceled for Wednesday, August 30, and Thursday, August 31. Normal activities and operations will resume on Friday, September 1. On Thursday, August 31, students will complete eLearning assignments from home via Schoology, Google Classroom, SeeSaw, or other designated virtual learning platforms. Specific information about assignments will be provided by the student’s teacher and/or school. Teachers will share information regarding their office hours to support students completing eLearning assignments at home. More information here: https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/elearning-day-faqs Due to the potential for severe weather, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of students, staff, and families, the district will not operate virtual feeding sites on Wednesday or Thursday. BCSD officials work in partnership with Berkeley County Emergency Management and receive regular updates regarding the weather from the National Weather Service. As safety and security is our number one priority, officials will continue to monitor the weather and assess any resulting damage. Schools and offices will reopen and resume normal operations on Friday, September 1.

Ms. Stuart's 4th grade class did a Book Tasting on Friday. They were able to sample books by looking at the covers, reading a few pages and discussing them with their classmates. They are hungry to read! Our wonderful Instructional Coach, Mrs. Denton even joined in to taste some books. #boykinsarereaders

The South Carolina Department of Education purchased and provided Berkeley County School District and other school districts in our state with My Ride K-12 for communication of bus routes and delays. The app has been unable to provide parents with consistent delay information. BCSD is now tracking bus delays for parents using Google documents. Bus Delays: https://www.bcsdschools.net/busdelays

Hello, Thank you to all of our Boykin parents for being patient in the morning and afternoon car rider loop. This is always very long in the beginning of the school year, but once everyone learns the procedures, it will move at a faster pace. Please read below as we have made some minor changes to the morning car rider line. Starting tomorrow, Weds 8/23: To ensure the safety of all students we will have them exit their car along the front sidewalk of the school. (Not past the curve at the corner of the school). We will have a staff member with a stop sign to show where we stop letting students out of cars. Please refer to the attached map for more details. Thank you all for your patience as we try to make arrival and dismissal safe and efficient.

(Extra car rider tags are $3.00) Please do not park in the front parking lot in front of the school after 12:30. You will be blocked in by our car rider parents. Tomorrow, Monday 8/21/23 is the first day of school. We are all very excited and cannot wait to see our little Boykins in the morning. Here are some friendly reminders: -You can walk your child to the classroom door on the first day of school only. -Parking is very hard at FBE. We encourage walking/biking if possible, golf carts, or carpooling. -No parking in the bus loop area when buses are present. -If It is a handicap or reserved space, please do not park there unless you have the proper tags. -Please do not park on or drive over any grass or flowerbeds on or off campus. We all need to be respectful of the parking areas on or around the school. -It is going to be an exciting day but please be patient. -Lines are going to be long for morning sign in, but you will be able to walk your child to class. -Our front office will not be officially open till 7:45 since they will be helping getting parents signed in and students in the building. We ask everyone to be patient and understanding. We want our FBE Boykins to have great memories of their first day. *Please do not park on Alderly Drive per the Moncks Corner Police Department* See you bright and early in the morning @ 6:55 AM.
