Dr. Cappello’s 3rd grade students have been hard at work creating their own maps of imaginary places as a culminating project for Unit 1 Geography! 🌟
Students proudly presented their creations to their grown ups who joined them in the classroom to celebrate their learning. Families also had fun playing Continent Concentration together! 🌍🧠
We love seeing our students apply their learning, showcase their creativity, and share their knowledge with their families! 💙🐾

Preparation + Determination=Growth
Our students are making gains in math! For the 2025-2026 school year, our SC Ready Math scores increased by 7.2 percent. According to the South Carolina Department of Education, this makes us the school district with the third-highest growth in SC Ready Math scores in the state!
What an INCREDIBLE turnout! Thousands of attendees came to grab a backpack and join the fun at our OneBerkeley Back to School Festival! We can't wait to welcome BCSD students back to school on Aug. 12!
On Monday, the Berkeley County Board of Education approved the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 General Fund Budget, a financial plan that invests in students and employees while making responsible use of taxpayer dollars. Today we celebrated with 42 students and their Multilingual Teachers (Ms. Hartzog, Mrs. Bellomo, Mrs. Montana, Ms. D. Scott, and Ms. Sanders) with an ice cream party in the Bark Park.
Learning to speak, read, write, and comprehend more than one language is not easy, but they did it through hard work, perseverance, and determination.
We are incredibly proud of their accomplishment and the growth they have shown along the way.

Congratulations Mrs. Mazyck!! Today we joined Dr. Seaboldt, BCSD K-5 Math Coordinator, in congratulating the class. Based on Fall to Spring iReady Math diagnostic data, she was recognized as a top Gold Rush teacher in the DISTRICT (Top 10). Her class had one of highest percentages of students to move from yellow in the fall to green in the spring!
