Ms. Christal Stevens was named principal of Cross Elementary in 2026. She started her education career as a sixth grade English/language arts teacher in Calhoun County before joining Berkeley County School District in 2011. After devoting more than a decade of service in the classroom as a fifth grade teacher at Cross Elementary, Stevens served as an administrative assistant at Boulder Bluff Elementary and then transitioned into her role as assistant principal at Carolyn Lewis School in 2024.

Stevens studied Elementary Education at Claflin University. She attained her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University and is currently working on her doctorate through Liberty University.

Dr. Prioleau has served public education for 38 years.  His experiences in school administration includes 25 years at the elementary and middle school levels.  He has received professional degrees from South Carolina State University, The Citadel, and Nova Southeastern  University.  Dr. Prioleau believes that building relationships will all stakeholders is the most important factor to any successful school.
