Jason Shover

It's official! At the BCSD Board of Education meeting on May 5, Jason Shover was named the principal of Cane Bay Middle.

"Being named the Principal of Cane Bay Middle School is a true honor and privilege that I do not take lightly," Shover said. "Middle school is such a pivotal time in a student’s life – full of growth, questions and possibilities. I am excited and deeply committed to have the opportunity to support all of our students, staff and families as we work together to build a safe and inspiring learning environment."

Prior to arriving at CBM, Shover spent a short stint as an assistant principal at Berkeley Middle at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. He was named the interim principal of CBM in January 2025.

Shover comes to Berkeley County School District from Pennsylvania with various educational career experiences over the past 22 years. He began his teaching career in secondary alternative education, and then was subsequently a fifth grade teacher for eight years.

Shover started his time as a school administrator by serving as a middle school assistant principal for seven year, and he was eventually named the Pennsylvania Assistant Principal of the Year in 2019 in this role. Afterward, he was a high school principal for three years.

Through these experiences, Shover saw that student success is built on the strength and support of all stakeholders.

"I am looking forward to deepening the connection between our school and community, fostering strong relationships with students, staff and families, and providing meaningful opportunities for students to explore, grow and thrive," Shover said.

Shover holds an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, Master of Education in School Administration, as well as his Letter of Eligibility for Superintendent.
