Congratulations to Zion Britt for signing with Howard University to play football. Britt is a multi-sport athlete and had a great football career at Berkeley High School!
This achievement places Britt among an elite group of athletes nationwide—only about seven percent of high school football players compete at any collegiate level, and just 2–3 percent reach Division I. Britt is now part of that select group, a testament to his discipline, consistency, sacrifice and uncommon commitment.
Britt’s four years in Berkeley High's football program have been marked by steady development and relentless work. Nothing about his journey was handed to him—he earned everything through effort, growth and daily investment. Over time, he became a cornerstone of the offensive line and a driving force behind the team's identity, but his impact went beyond physical play. Britt was a powerful voice in our locker room, a vocal leader who held teammates accountable, raised expectations, and infused practice and game days with energy and purpose.
His leadership helped propel Berkeley Football through an impressive three-year run:
Sophomore year: Advanced to the second round of the playoffs
Junior year: Reached the third round of the playoffs
Senior year: Helped lead the Stags to the Lower State Championship
Britt also made meaningful contributions to our basketball program, which reached the Lower State Championship last March. His willingness to serve in whatever capacity his team needed—regardless of sport—reflects his selflessness and true understanding of team-first culture.
When people talk about the resurgence of Berkeley Football—its toughness, unity and identity—Britt’s name is central to that story. He protected the quarterback, cleared paths for the running backs, and set a consistent tone with his effort and physicality. And when adversity struck, Britt didn’t shrink. He led.
Equally impressive has been his growth as a young man. Britt matured as a student, teammate, and leader—someone who understood what it meant to represent Berkeley High with pride. He pushed others, pushed himself and leaves the football program undeniably better than he found it.
Today’s signing is a celebration of his hard work, belief in himself and the countless hours he invested when no one else was watching. Howard University is getting an exceptional player, leader and person.
Stag Nation is incredibly proud of him and can't wait to see the impact he’ll make at Howard University!
