  • Problem Solvers: Making the kite fly

    Students in the second grade class of Ms. Bell at Devon Forest Elementary read "Frog and Toad" and were asked to solve problems presented in the reading selection. In this case, students brainstormed how to solve problems involving the kite.

  • Educators are Innovators: Circus arts at Philip Simmons Middle

    Through the use of ABC and DAP grants, Philip Simmons Middle was able to provide students a unique learning experience for National Arts in Education Week. Theatre teacher Charles Atkins brought in circus arts instructor Jef Lambdin for a week of activities that covered multiple subject areas and several principles of learning.

  • BCA to host Fine Arts College Fair for all BCSD students

    On October 3, Berkeley Center for the Arts on the campus of Goose Creek High will host a Fine Arts College Fair. It's an event during which organizers hope that students will learn more about arts offerings at colleges and universities and what career paths are available.

    In episode one, we discuss the framework for Personalized Learning developed by the South Carolina Department of Education and interview teachers in Berkeley County who are transforming their classrooms to personalize learning for all students.

     SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT COUNCIL 

    The purpose of a School Improvement Council is to work with the school principal in planning, reviewing, and evaluating school programs. Input is sought in developing strategic and school renewal plans. The most up-to-date information and data on school programs is shared each month.

    Meetings are open to the public at 5:30 on the following dates:

    September 24 

    November 19

    Jaunary 28

    March 24
