As you are aware, testing season is quickly approaching. I want to share two important points: our upcoming testing dates and the importance of student attendance during high-stakes testing.
Our state assessments are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and growth throughout the school year. For students to perform at their best, it is essential that they are present, on time, and prepared on each testing day.
Please review the testing schedule below:
* **May 5** – Reading Assessment
* **May 6** – Writing Assessment
* **May 12–13** – Math Assessment
* **May 14** – Science Assessment (**6th-grade students only**)
I also want to stress the importance of student attendance during these testing dates:
* State assessments provide us with a clear picture of where students stand academically.
* Students cannot demonstrate what they know if they are absent.
* Consistent attendance and punctuality help students build strong habits that support long-term success.
* When families and schools work together to prioritize attendance, students are better positioned to achieve their best outcomes.
To encourage and celebrate student commitment, I will also provide incentives to students who attend all testing dates.
Thank you for your continued support in ensuring our students' success. Together, we can make this testing season a positive and rewarding experience for all.
Warm regards,
Dr. C

SFM Parents & Guardians,
As we continue preparations for the 2026-2027 school year, we have many students that are in "Not Started" status for returning student registration. Timely registration supports scheduling, staffing, and transportation for the next school year. Parents, please complete the returning student registration process by June 1, 2026.
This message is regarding medications:
Medications: All medications must be signed out by Monday, June 1, 2026 at 1PM by a parent or guardian. Medication forms for next year will be given at that time or sent home by the student. Any medication not picked up will be destroyed and discarded as required by law.
Immunizations: Please make sure your child has received all required immunizations. All 7th graders must have received 1 dose of Tdap vaccine on or after their 10th birthday. We will begin sending letters home with students this week if our files indicate they need Tdap. Please send updated records to coefieldb@bcsdschools.net and munnerlynb@bcsdschools.net or drop them off at the front office.

I would like to commend you for your role in helping ensure that everyone in attendance was able to fully enjoy the dance performance. Because of your support and cooperation, we were able to truly appreciate the art and expression behind each routine, as well as the dedication and preparation that Ms. Salvage and her dancers put into every movement.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and school community.

This is your friendly neighborhood principal, Dr. C. We are proud to share that the first day of testing is down, with one more week to go! We had a smooth and successful day today, and we are looking forward to continuing that positive momentum.
Tomorrow, students will be taking the Writing portion of the SC Ready assessment. Please ensure that students arrive on time. This is extremely important, as we want every student to be settled and in the best possible mindset before testing begins. Please note that students who arrive at 8:45 AM or later will not test with their regular homeroom, so punctuality is essential.
As mentioned previously, there is an incentive for students who are present for each day of testing, so attendance is key.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and all that you do to support our students.

Hello, SFM Families & Guardians,
The time has come—everything we have practiced and worked hard to master this year will be demonstrated over the next two weeks.
The first SC READY assessment will be ELA – Reading.
**Testing Day Expectations**
Students are expected to be on their very best behavior throughout the testing window. To ensure a smooth and successful testing environment, please review the following expectations:
* **Timeliness is critical.** All car riders must arrive at school on time. Any student who arrives after **9:00 AM** will be required to make up the test on a different day.
* All electronic devices will be collected by testing administrators at the start of each testing session. This includes, but is not limited to:
* Cell phones
* Ear buds / wireless headphones
* SMART watches
* SMART glasses
* Any device capable of imaging, recording, or messaging
* Students are not permitted to bring blankets to school.
* Students must restart their school-issued computers prior to arriving and bring them fully charged each day.
* Bluetooth headphones are not allowed.
To support student performance, we encourage families to ensure students get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast on testing days. Additionally, to help maintain a focused and uninterrupted testing environment, we ask that you make every effort to schedule appointments outside of these testing dates, and please do your best not to collect your student before their test is complete.
We appreciate your partnership in helping our students do their very best. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
At the New Sedgefield, we will work together to ensure every student is prepared, confident, and ready to succeed.
Thank you for your continued support.

This is a friendly reminder that we will host our annual Dance Performance tomorrow, May 5, at GCH.
Please note that tickets will be sold at the door, and cash only will be accepted. Students are required to sit with their parents during the performance.
We also ask that all attendees maintain a high level of professionalism and courtesy. While cheering for your students, friends, and classmates is certainly encouraged, please be mindful of others so that everyone can fully enjoy the performance.
Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Warm regards,
Dr. C
