Good Friday Explorers, There is a lot of information in this email.
If you are in Kindergarten or new to Nexton, you should have received a postcard in the mail. If you are a returning student, you should be able to see your homeroom teacher on the PowerSchool App by tonight at 5pm. Multiple factors are always taking into consideration and we try to uphold as many requests as possible, but sometimes it can not happen. Just know that our school continues to rank as one of the top elementary schools and that is because ALL of our teaching staff is amazing and any child would be lucky to have them.
Meet The Teacher is on Monday. Parent Orientation for CERDEP (4K) will be in the Media Center from 3:00-4:00 (Parents Only). Then 3K-5th grade (All Students) will have their Meet The Teacher from 5:00-7:00pm. You may enter the building from the front or back of the school. Please know that we have over 1000 students and parking is limited. You may bring your school supplies this day too. It is important on Meet The Teacher that every parent inform the homeroom teacher on how your child/children get home. Our Primary Goal is to get all children home safely and efficiently.
If you have not fully completed your registration, please know that your student does not have a homeroom teacher. If you visit Nexton on Meet The Teacher and are not completed, there will be no homeroom to visit. The front office will be closed during this time and we will not be giving out any car tags or assisting with registration. The office will be open from 7:30am-3:00pm on Monday, August 11th...if you need anything.
Our supply lists per grade level were sent out on our school website, Facebook, and through email to all students and staff. If you still need a list, please let us know or see your homeroom teacher on Monday
Attached is the Car Loop Maps, as well. Please know that we have two car loops and each one has its own way to enter. If you attempt to enter from another direction, you will be unsuccessful. Also, know that we will allow parents to walk students to their classes for the first three (3) days of schools (Aug 13, 14, 15).
If you bring your child/children to school by car....IT WILL BE CRAZY on the first couple days of school... please prepare for it, do not let it trick you or get the best of you!!! Please have patience... we will make sure that all parents get to have the "First Days Of School" moments. Administration will be assessing each day when to start marking students tardy on the first days of school. If traffic is backed up until 7:30am or later on the first days of school...then we will give and delay marking tardies. Just know that we will get to a point to where we will mark tardies after 7:20am. On normal days, our car loops will close at 7:18am to help get students to class on-time and also get our staff into their classrooms on time. On this day, you will not be able to enter the school building at the back/bus loop because of safety...unless are buses are cleared and off campus. Please go through the front
We truly want to THANK all of you and we are excited for this year. Please know that since 2015, we have been able to find a solution to every problem we have faced. If there is a concern or issue, please know we will help you. Our front office clerks (THE FAB 5) have been and will be working very hard to help, please stay positive. Lets continue to be the example for our children in difficult moments. Be Positive, Uplifting, and Encouraging in every situation.
See Everyone Monday!!!!

We want to keep everyone in "the loop" about any new information. Next year, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teachers will be "teaming". What that means is your child will have two (2) teachers each day. They will spend half of the day in one class and half of the day with the other class. One teacher will be responsible to provide Reading and Writing (with some integration of Science and/or Social Studies). and the other teacher is responsible for Math and Science/Social Studies. Please view the attachment for a deeper understanding. Also, K4-2nd grade will be the same as always....you child will have one homeroom (1) teacher the entire day.
Please be aware that if 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade has an odd number of teachers like seven (7)...then one (1) teacher will keep their class for the entire day and provide all subject areas. As we get closer, we will send our a message of which teachers are teaming and who is not.
We are excited for this change because we fully believe our amazing teachers will be able to cut their preparation in half, which will allow them twice the amount of time to master their primary subject area for your child. Nexton always "sets the bar", but now we will be able to raise the bar even higher. See Everyone Soon!!!!

Hey Nexton Families, Things are "Getting Serious"!!! We are a little over a month away from school beginning. Meet The Teacher will be August 11th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Homeroom Lists will be printed and posted on the front and back windows of the school, prior to the event. You can enter and exit through the front or back doors. You will have the opportunity to have transportation, classroom, school, and cafeteria questions answered, during this time.
Please remember that if you are not fully registered, if you are missing one or more documents, your student will not be on a class roster. Whether you are new or returning, you must be completely registered. If you are missing any information or documents...make sure you have them turned in asap. Please remember, we are trying to do our best to eliminate the stress a parent will feel if their child is not on a class roster by send out multiple reminders to complete registration.

Here is the link to register ALL NEW and RETURNING STUDENTS for the 2025-2026 School Year at Nexton Elementary School:
https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/student-registration
Just a reminder, if you are returning to Nexton Elementary for the 2025-2026 school year, you will need to complete the "Returning Student Registration". If this registration is not completed, your child will not be placed in a homeroom for Meet The Teacher or the first day of school.
Secondly, if you have any students that are going to be NEW to Nexton Elementary School next year, such as Kindergarten or you have just moved to Nexton's attendance zone.... please make sure you complete the "New Student Registration". Also, If you know someone moving into our area, please remind them to fill this out. If this registration is not completed, your child will not be placed in a homeroom for Meet The Teacher or the first day of school.
Lastly, if you are MOVING or LEAVING Nexton, please contact the school to complete a "Withdrawal Form". If you have already moved and can not come to the school, that is okay.... please still call us at (843) 900-3222. If you can not visit the school, please have your new school send us a "Records Request" form .
One More Time!!!! Please understand.....if we do not have your child fully registered at Nexton Elementary School, then your child CAN NOT be placed in a homeroom. At "Meet The Teacher" or "The First Day of School", your child will not have a classroom to attend. This has caused parents to become upset and frustrated with staff, but please remember each year starts a new enrollment and the only way that the school knows if your child will attend Nexton Elementary is through our registration system. Even if your child has attended Nexton Elementary for five years, they will still need to complete registration or they will not carry over from last year.
