Here is the link to register ALL NEW and RETURNING STUDENTS for the 2025-2026 School Year at Nexton Elementary School: https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/student-registration Just a reminder, if you are returning to Nexton Elementary for the 2025-2026 school year, you will need to complete the "Returning Student Registration". If this registration is not completed, your child will not be placed in a homeroom for Meet The Teacher or the first day of school. Secondly, if you have any students that are going to be NEW to Nexton Elementary School next year, such as Kindergarten or you have just moved to Nexton's attendance zone.... please make sure you complete the "New Student Registration". Also, If you know someone moving into our area, please remind them to fill this out. If this registration is not completed, your child will not be placed in a homeroom for Meet The Teacher or the first day of school. Lastly, if you are MOVING or LEAVING Nexton, please contact the school to complete a "Withdrawal Form". If you have already moved and can not come to the school, that is okay.... please still call us at (843) 900-3222. If you can not visit the school, please have your new school send us a "Records Request" form . One More Time!!!! Please understand.....if we do not have your child fully registered at Nexton Elementary School, then your child CAN NOT be placed in a homeroom. At "Meet The Teacher" or "The First Day of School", your child will not have a classroom to attend. This has caused parents to become upset and frustrated with staff, but please remember each year starts a new enrollment and the only way that the school knows if your child will attend Nexton Elementary is through our registration system. Even if your child has attended Nexton Elementary for five years, they will still need to complete registration or they will not carry over from last year.

Nexton Elementary would like to introduce our newest Assistant Principal, Mrs. Ginger McCoy!!!! Mrs. McCoy comes to Nexton Elementary from Berkeley Elementary, where she served as their Assistant Principal. She will be a great addition to the current administrative team of Dr. Hoots and Mr. Jashienski. Mrs. McCoy has served in Berkeley County School District for many years and has fulfilled many roles such as Title 1 Facilitator, Curriculum Coach, and of course... Assistant Principal. Her wealth of knowledge and love of education will only make Nexton stronger than ever. We are very excited to have her at Nexton Elementary!!!!

We know it is June and we are still 8 weeks away from the first day of school for the 2025-2026 year, but we wanted to get our Grade Level School Supply Lists to our families as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact the school. Can't wait to see everyone in August.

YEARBOOKS!!!!! We still have a few yearbooks left for sale. We have reduced the price to $20 each. If you are interested, please visit the front office and we will get one for you. The last day to purchase a "reduced" yearbook is Wednesday, June 4th, if they are not sold out by then. Thank You

Nexton wants to give a HUGE shout-out to Ms. Janet Fields for taking over our garden at Nexton. Last year, it looked amazing, but WOW!!!!... Mrs. Fields has made even more improvements. Thank You for putting in so much time and effort to make Nexton Elementary's Breezeway such a beautiful area!!!!

Hello 5th grade families, Dr. Hoots sent out a message out this morning at 7:30am... the message stated, due to the potential rain and bad weather....we are moving the 5th grade promotion from The Great Lawn to the Multi-Purpose Room/Cafeteria tonight at Nexton Elementary. Doors open at 5:00pm and the ceremony will begin at 5:30pm. Thank You!!!

Thank You Nexton Elementary PTA for an AMAZING 5th Grade Dance. So much fun for our students who are moving on to Middle School next year. For all of our Nexton Explorers , who are zoned for Sangaree Middle School, here is a flyer to save. On August 12th from 9:30am-11:00am, SRM is hosting a 6th Grade Visitation Day. This is open to families and students. Please mark the date! If you are zoned for Cane Bay Middle, we already sent out the flyer earlier this month, but we have added the flyer to this message again for you. Congratulations to all of our 5th graders!!! Can't wait to see our 5th grade families at The Great Lawn at 5:00pm on Tuesday, May 27th for the 5th Promotion Ceremony.

This week our ML (Multi-Language) students had their End of the Year Luau. This was a great time to reflect on all of the student's hard work. This is also a time to celebrate the students that have graduated from the program. Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Wilhelmson have done amazing job this year and are the "Best in the Biz". Congratulations to all of our ML students and their accomplishments this year.

We had our final Character Ed Awards yesterday. Congratulations all of our awesome students that exemplified "Fairness and Cooperation". Also, thank you to our awesome school counselors and social worker, Ms. Michele Russell, Ms. Annette Figura, and Ms. Patrice Frasier-Brown, plus our wonderful SRO Ms. Leslie Mosier for making this year so successful!!!! Lastly, Thank You to Ms. Angelina Davenport, who has been a big supporter of Nexton Elementary and Character Ed for the past years through the Kiwanis Club. #ONTO2025

Nexton would like to give a huge THANK YOU to our NURSES!!! Nurse Christy and Brittany are absolutely amazing and have been such a strong team for Nexton. We appreciate all of their hard work and dedication to our students!!! Happy Nurses' Week!!!

Field day is right around the corner, May 27th will be 3rd-5th grade and May 28th will be K-2nd grade. There will be plenty of water games and fun competitive games for the students to all enjoy! We are looking for parent volunteers to help run game stations with our special area crew. Please be on the lookout for a volunteer signup sheet. These will be posted on the Nexton Elementary Facebook page, as well as the Nexton PTA Facebook page. More information to come in the upcoming weeks.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT TODAY IS???? It's Principal's Day!!! Dr. Hoots is our "fearless leader", who has been a staple of Nexton Elementary for 6 years. It is such a blessing to have a principal who is compassionate, empowering, and a servant-leader. We don't think that anyone can say "Nexton Elementary" without thinking of Dr. Hoots. The lasting impact that she has made at our school will be seen for decades to come. Thank You and Love You Dr. Hoots!!!!

This morning was the BCSD Teacher of the Year Breakfast at Trident Technical College. Nexton Elementary is still so proud of Mrs. Ardis for being the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year and representing our school in Teacher Forum for the next two years!!!!

Administrative Professionals Day was on Wednesday, but we are Nexton and "We Finish Strong"!!! SOOOOOOO........Today, Nexton surprised our wonderful ladies with some gifts and goodies to show how much we love them. We can not thank them enough because they truly keep the school moving forward and each one of them is such an important piece of the Nexton Elementary puzzle. We Love You and Thank You!!!
