Marrington Middle School of the Arts is working toward more arts-integrated lessons! The school has an ongoing partnership with ArtsNOW, a grant program provided by the South Carolina Arts Commission, to give teachers professional development and work on creating arts-integrated lessons to support students' learning.
Preparation + Determination=Growth
Our students are making gains in math! For the 2025-2026 school year, our SC Ready Math scores increased by 7.2 percent. According to the South Carolina Department of Education, this makes us the school district with the third-highest growth in SC Ready Math scores in the state!

And to our students: you brought the energy! 🙌 It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, hear so much laughter, and watch everyone kick off the new school year together.
Our 6th graders spent two days in the library learning the basics of how the library works, using Destiny Discover to search for books, using call numbers to locate books on the shelves, and checking out books to read. 📖
Of course, we had to add a little friendly competition, too! Students tested their knowledge with a fun game of Kahoot, and the top three students in each class won magnetic bookmarks! 💻
We also dedicated time to reviewing Beanstack expectations, including the importance of logging with integrity. Students who earned tickets during our sample class challenge were entered into a drawing, with lucky winners taking home a Smencil! ✏️
Orientation was filled with learning, exploring, competing, and discovering—and our 6th graders are already well on their way to becoming confident, responsible library users! 📚

At the end of last school year and into the summer, a dedicated team of volunteers came together with a shared mission to solidify and celebrate the identity of Marrington Middle School of the Arts. Their thoughtful work and passion have resulted in something we can all be proud of.

This new identity reflects who we are and who we aspire to be. The Mariner identity embodies the qualities we value most: teamwork, resilience, creativity, and purpose. Just as mariners work together to reach their destination, we support one another as we navigate the challenges and celebrate the victories that define our middle school experience. Each of us—students, staffulty, families, and neighbors—is part of one crew on the same journey. Each plays a vital role in our shared success. We are anchored to our goals, guided by our commitment to excellence in academics, arts, and character.
This is more than a new name or mascot. It is a renewed commitment to our collective vision and a powerful symbol of what we can accomplish together.
