Have a wonderful winter break!

Ms. Clark’s 7th grade GT Math classes partnered with the library for a meaningful (and cozy!) learning experience that brought numbers and books together. During a read-in, students tracked the number of minutes they read at set intervals and then used that data to create graphs.
From there, students will analyze their results to deepen their understanding of graphing, slope, and constant of proportionality (all using real reading data they collected themselves) when they return from winter break.
This cross-curricular collaboration showed students that math is everywhere… even between the pages of a good book! 📖

December Craft Corner Fun! Our December Craft Corner was full of creativity and laughter! Students and Staffulty enjoyed getting crafty as they made festive seasonal decorations, including pine cone pom-pom ornaments and canvas button art. It was such a joy to see everyone slow down, create, and connect while celebrating the season. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this gathering so special.

Twenty-one students submitted a 6-word spooky story for our library contest—and WOW, they all delivered! Their creepy creativity gave us chills in the very best way.
Our staffulty voted on the anonymous entries, and after some tough decisions, the top three stories were selected, along with one honorable mention.
🕸️ Prizes & Treats
All participants earned a goody bag filled with Halloween-themed erasers, tattoos, and candy.
The Top 10 storytellers also received a spooky book, a Halloween bookmark, and a prize from our prize basket.
The Top 3 winners and Honorable Mention earned all of the above plus an extra treat from the basket.
Thank you to everyone who entered—you made this contest frighteningly fun! Stay spooky & keep writing!👀💀

Our Fall Scholastic Book Fair was the most successful one we’ve ever had.
💥 Over 900 items were sold, putting more books than ever into the hands (and hearts!) of our student readers. That’s real momentum for literacy, joy, and imagination in our school community.
🗣️📖 When students are given voice and choice in what they read, they want to read. Selecting books that feel exciting, relevant, funny, mysterious, comforting, or even a little spooky empowers them as readers—and that freedom builds a lifelong love of reading.
❤️ Thanks to the generosity of our families and community, we also collected almost $200 in Share the Fair donations. Those funds allowed us to purchase books for students who weren’t able to buy their own—because every student deserves to experience the excitement of choosing a new book.
🌟 Your support truly matters. When students, families, and staffulty come together around reading, we’re not just building a stronger library…we’re building a stronger culture of confident, independent, joyful readers. Let’s keep growing readers, one story at a time.
📚Save the date: Our winter book fair will be held February 4th-6th and 9th-12th.
Our admin team and library crew are deeply grateful for every shopper, donor, and literacy supporter who helped make this fair such a success. Your partnership fuels everything we do for readers at MMSOA. Thank you, MMSOA—your love for books makes a real difference.
