Some college level courses may count as career pathway credits or elective credits toward a high school diploma. These courses may also apply toward a post-secondary (college) associate degree, diploma, credential, or industry certification. The Middle College will follow its own designated academic calendar, not the published Berkeley County School District calendar. For example, it is likely that the TTC Spring Break will not coincide with the school district’s spring break. In other words, while the Middle College will be in session for 180 days for students, the dates will not be exactly the same as the dates for students attending a regular high school.  We are not an alternative school for students with disciplinary issues.

The BMC experience is designed for students who want to get a head start on their college careers and for those who may not have performed to their full potential in a traditional high school setting. With limited enrollment, small class size, and supportive relationships, BMC  help students make new beginnings toward high school graduation and college and career success. 

Classes are student-centered and emphasize creative and critical thinking and expression. Deliberate connections are made to the real world through extended learning opportunities. We encourage students to respect and learn from people of other cultures and backgrounds, and to explore career pathways of individual interest. Students also have opportunities to be involved in community service projects and other work-based learning opportunities, and to meet with tutors/mentors on a routine basis as fits each student’s schedule. 

Students who wish to play sports or participate in extra-curricular activities at their sending high school may do so  as long as they are able to attend practices and/or meetings on time.

Students a who choose the Middle College make a commitment to attend for the entire school year.
