Mrs. Nancy Leigh

Principal

She holds a master's degree in School Counseling from The Citadel, and a master's in School Administration from Charleston Southern University.

Leigh began as an elementary school teacher at H.E. Bonner Elementary, and she later served as a school counselor at Devon Forest Elementary and Macedonia Middle. She then moved to become a Title One facilitator at Sangaree Elementary. She also served as an instructional coach and assistant principal at Westview Elementary. She has additionally served as assistant principal at Howe Hall AIMS and Moncks Corner Elementary.

Mrs. Leigh opened Nexton Elementary in 2015 as the school’s principal and started the first 1:1 technology implementation in the district. Under Mrs. Leigh’s leadership, Nexton received an excellent rating on the SC School Report Card. She also led the start of Nexton’s robotics team, Science Olympiad team and Project Lead the Way instruction in K-5. Nexton received Honor Roll Status from SC-SIC for School Improvement Council for outstanding efforts in building the foundations for an effective SIC and exemplifying civic engagement at work for public education.

She was named principal of Daniel Island School in 2019. She faithfully served there for the past four years, leading the Ospreys to recognition as a Palmetto’s Finest Finalist in 2023.  She was named principal of Bowen's Corner Elementary in 2023.

Lisa Morley

Mrs. Lisa Morley

Assistant Principal

Over the course of Lisa Morley’s career, she has taught pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first grade and third grade. She most recently served as a first-grade teacher at Cane Bay Elementary, where she was named the school’s Teacher of the year in 2023. She has taught in BCSD since 2020. Throughout her 17-year teaching career, Morley has also served as a grade chair / team lead, a new teacher mentor and a Carolina CAP coach, among other endeavors. She studied education at SUNY Brockport in New York, and also holds a Master of Education from Elmira College. She received her Principal Certification in Educational Leadership and Supervision from Lamar University.
