Hello, WES Families! This is a reminder that Tags of Honor Celebrations are Friday + Monday! Invitations have been sent by your child's teacher if your child will be receiving tags.

At the PTO Meeting last Thursday, we had a presentation to give families information clarifying what bullying looks like, how to empower our children, and what parents can do at home if it is suspected. Remember, that communication is key! See the chart for some info regarding teasing, conflict, and bullying.

So much active learning in Ms. Smalarz's Kindergarten Class!

WES Families, enjoy your weekend and don't forget to read on this lonnng weekend! Some fun ways to incorporate reading at home! Read a book of funny poetry. All books count. Build a reading fort. An easy way to do this is by placing two chairs with the backs facing inward (towards each other). Then drape a blanket over the chairs. Adopt a reading friend. Maybe this is a new stuffed animal. Or a favorite stuffed animal or toy. Let children read to their friends. Read to a pet. Or sign children up to read to the pets at a local animal shelter (some offer this type of program). Cook a recipe for a food from the book!

We have just wrapped an aWESome 1st Semester and Report Cards come home today in Thursday folders!

Due to forecasts for continued severe weather resulting in area power outages, and concerns regarding impacts on roads and facilities throughout the evening, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) schools and offices will operate on a 2-hour weather delay on Wednesday, January 10.
There will be no before school care programs, but after school programs and athletics will resume normal operations on Wednesday.
Bus riders will report to bus stops two hours later than their regularly scheduled time. Information concerning school start times and bell schedules when operating on a 2-hour weather delay is available on the BCSD website here: https://www.bcsdschools.net/o/bcsd/page/school-bell-schedules.
District officials are continuing to work closely with the Berkeley County Emergency Management Department, local power providers, and law enforcement to monitor the weather and potential impact on the county. Officials are also receiving regular updates from the National Weather Service.
As safety and security is our number one priority, all decisions are made with the safety of students, staff, and families in mind.

Due to the potential for severe weather on Tuesday, January 9, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) announced that students will learn from home and complete eLearning Day assignments on Tuesday.
