Brooks Burnette

Timberland High is excited to announce the hiring of Brooks Burnette as its new head football coach. A proud alumnus of THS, Burnette returns home to lead the Wolves football program with a clear vision for success on and off the field.

Coach Burnette brings extensive coaching experience and a proven record of excellence. Most recently, he has served as Head Strength and Conditioning Coordinator and Offensive Coordinator at Woodland High School, where he helped lead the program to a Lower State Championship appearance. In a true full-circle moment, Burnette faced his alma mater during that run, coaching against his former high school coach on one of the state’s biggest stages.

Throughout his career, Coach Burnette has been recognized as one of the top offensive minds in the area. He was named Region Offensive Coordinator of the Year in 2021 and has been selected to coach in several prestigious events, including the SCFCA Palmetto Combine Series and multiple high school all-star showcases.

A former standout at THS, Burnette played quarterback and defensive back for the Wolves from 2002–2005. During his time, the Wolves captured region championships in three of his four seasons, contributing to the rise of Timberland as one of the Lowcountry’s winningest programs.

Following his high school career, Burnette continued his playing career at Newberry College from 2006–2010, where he played free safety and further developed his understanding of the game at the collegiate level.

“Coach Burnette’s return to Timberland is a special moment for our school and community,” said Principal Tim Evans. “He understands what it means to be a Wolf, having been a part of the teams that helped establish Timberland as one of the most successful programs in the Lowcountry. He brings passion, discipline, and a commitment to excellence that will elevate our football program. We are excited to welcome him home and confident in the future under his leadership.”

Burnette’s connection to THS and Berkeley County football runs deep. His late father, Rick Burnette, along with his brothers, have all coached in the area -- building a strong family tradition rooted in the game and community. That legacy continues to shape Burnette’s passion for coaching and his commitment to student athletes as he returns to the place where his football journey began.

“Returning to Timberland is incredibly meaningful to me,” said Coach Burnette. “This is where I grew up as a player and developed a lifelong love for this game. My family’s legacy in Berkeley County football and schools helped shape who I am today, and I carry that with me every time I step on the field."

Burnette holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Newberry College and a Master’s in Education in Administration and Supervision from Southern Wesleyan University. He is also certified in Driver’s Education through Erskine College.

"Timberland has a proud tradition as one of the winningest programs in the Lowcountry, and I’m honored to come back and lead the Wolves," Burnette said. "My goal is to help our student-athletes compete at the highest level and continue cementing Timberland as the standard of excellence in our area.”
