About the Early College Program at Timberland High
Berkeley County School District is ready to launch the inaugural cohort of students in the Early College Program at Timberland High School.
The program partners with Trident Technical College to offer students the opportunity to earn an associate degree in high school at NO cost. This program offers students the opportunity to earn college credits—and even an associate degree—at no cost while still in high school. The Early College Program is designed to equip students with the skills and credentials needed to succeed in high-demand careers or pursue further education with a strong head start.
In this program, you can:
Get a Jumpstart on Your Career – Prepare for in-demand, high-growth fields while completing high school.
Earn an Associate Degree for Free – Graduate in four years with your high school diploma and the equivalent of your first two years of college completed—at no cost to you or your family.
Make Money and Gain Real-World Experience – Participate in paid internships that offer course credit.
Enjoy the Best of Both Worlds –Experience the best of high school and college, all while building a strong foundation for future success.
Where is the program located?
It will be housed on the campus of Timberland High in St. Stephen.
How to Apply
Applications are open NOW and will be accepted by Thursday, May 23, 2025. Current 8th grade students from Macedonia Middle School and St. Stephen Middle School are eligible to apply for the 2025-26 academic year. Students begin the program in ninth grade.
Ideal candidates for the Early College Program include:
A student who is taking or has taken Algebra 1 and/or English 1
A student who can thrive in taking rigorous college courses beginning in 10th grade
Has no discipline referrals or very few discipline referrals
Regularly attends school and doesn't have excessive absences
Self-motivated and desires to attend and complete college
