Ready to solve the case of the missing breakfast? National School Breakfast Week starts today! To celebrate, students will get to try new menu items for breakfast and be entered to win daily and grand prizes from BCSD Child Nutrition Services.

The STARBOOKS Family Night was a huge success! Thank you for coming out to learn more about book genres and to relax with a cup of coffee/hot chocolate. Thank you to Mrs. Bowen for organizing the event and all of the wonderful parents who participated!!
Yearbook Sales have started!

More third grade students were adding their handprints to the iReady Wall today! These outstanding students have passed 30 or more iReady Lessons this year! Way to go kids!

Our students attend STEM Lab each week. Today the fifth grades were completing a coding activity to move their robots. They were synergizing, learning so much and having a great time doing it. Great things always happening at SRI.
Our Service Learning Project for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is going great. The students are really enjoying the "Penny Wars"! It is fierce! This is a great way to give back and practice our math at the same time. Our students chose a meaningful charity to send the donations to!. Keep bringing in that change. Way to go SRI Leaders!
More Traveling Tom's Coffee Truck pictures!

Our teachers and staff had an early Valentine's Day Treat today! Tom's Coffee truck was on campus this morning for coffee, hot chocolate or another tasty beverage. We show appreciation to our teachers and staff throughout the year! They are a special group!

Additional photos from Roaring 20s Day!
SRI was blessed to have Chris Singleton speak to our 4th and 5th grade students yesterday. His uplifting message about unity and following your dreams was the perfect combination. Our students were "leaning in" on every word. He is such a talented author and motivational speaker. He left 100 books to distribute to students. We are planning to give these away to the first 100 families to join us at our StarBOOKS Title 1 Reading Event on February 27th. Retired BCSD Employee, Willis Sanders, was in attendance and presented Chris Singleton with one of his original art pieces.
We also could not let Chris get away without some SRI Swag. A wonderful way to start our day!

Our fifth graders finished up their Social Studies Unit with a Roaring 20s Day. Students rotated between all of the fifth grade classes doing various activities to culminate the unit. The students worked with Mrs. Keiser to plan and decorate the hallways. We love student leaders! The teacher and student costumes were spectacular too. We always look forward to this great event.
Join us for our StarBOOKs Reading Cafe on February 27th!! Warm up with a book!

EVERY student DESERVES a school counselor.
Feb. 3-7 is National School Counseling Week, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our school counselors for the role they play in student achievement and success.

SRI is proud to announce this year's Teacher of the Year as Mrs. Saskia Keller! She has been teaching for over 18 years and has been our librarian here at SRI for the last two and a half years. She works to build a community of learners by working with both students and teachers. Her love for reading and books is almost as incredible as her passion for instruction. Congratulations Mrs. Keller! We are so excited for you.

Congratulations to Saskia Keller, Nicole Ramsey, and Olivia Olson for being nominated by their peers for Teacher of the Year! These educators are phenomenal examples of hard work and a love for students and learning. SRI is blessed to have them here!
BCSD schools and offices will re-open and resume normal operations tomorrow, Monday, Jan. 27.
