leon with the new goose

Howe Hall AIMS had a lot to celebrate this week.

The school is celebrating 25 years as an arts infused magnet school, and the school is also the new proud recipient of a Goose statue from the City of Goose Creek.

Parents, teachers, students and city officials gathered at the school, following a PTA meeting, on Wednesday evening to celebrate all these milestones. The school opted to make it a 25th birthday celebration for the school mascot, Leon, with the goose statue being Leon's birthday present.

In 2023, the City of Goose Creek launched a new initiative in partnership with its Cultural Arts and Recreation Commissions: the Adopt-A-Goose program gives city businesses and organizations the opportunity to display their own goose statue, designed just for them.

Howe Hall AIMS raised funds last school year via donut sales to purchase the its goose that now sits in front of the building. The goose, Cami, wears a green shirt with painted squares reflecting the arts-infused lessons the school incorporates into students' learning.

Cami is the city's 68th goose statue to be delivered. Howe Hall AIMS parent Lauren Thomas helped paint the statue alongside the city's Art Director, Barb Richardson.

Happy Birthday, Leon -- and welcome, Cami!
