Nexton News

  •  Welcome to Nexton Elementary School, home of the Explorers.  Our students are blasting off every day!

    Our Vision: To empower all students for success. 

    Office hours are 7:15-3:00 Mon.-Fri.

     

    A reminder that PTA Discount Card fundraiser order forms are to be turned in on Monday, September 16th and the Discount Cards will be sent home in Wednesday's Folders.
    Our re-scheduled K4 thorough 1st graders' Grandparents Lunch is Monday, September 16th. 
    Our re-scheduled 2nd through 5th graders' Grandparents Lunch is Tuesday, September 17th.
    School Pictures will be made on Tuesday, September 17th. 
    Also on September 17th I will host "Talking with Tina" at 7:45 - 8:30 AM (in the school's cafeteria) to informally chat with parents.
    PTA Spirit Wear is still on sale and due by Friday, September 20th.
    Our Nexton Book Fair will continue through Friday, September 20th.
    Grandparents, when you are visiting for lunch on Monday or Tuesday, take time to visit our Media Center and purchase gifts of reading materials for your grandchildren!
    Honors Chorus Auditions will be held on September 17th and 18th after school.

    Nuestro almuerzo para los abuelos de los alumnos de 1er grado reprogramados para K4 es el lunes 16 de septiembre.
    Nuestro almuerzo programado para los abuelos de los alumnos de 2º a 5º grado es el martes 17 de septiembre.
    Las fotos escolares se harán el martes 17 de septiembre.
    También el 17 de septiembre organizaré "Talking with Tina" a las 7:45 - 8:30 AM (en la cafetería de la escuela) para conversar informalmente con los padres.
    PTA Spirit Wear todavía está a la venta y vence el viernes 20 de septiembre.

  • Problem Solvers: Making the kite fly

    Students in the second grade class of Ms. Bell at Devon Forest Elementary read "Frog and Toad" and were asked to solve problems presented in the reading selection. In this case, students brainstormed how to solve problems involving the kite.

  • Educators are Innovators: Circus arts at Philip Simmons Middle

    Through the use of ABC and DAP grants, Philip Simmons Middle was able to provide students a unique learning experience for National Arts in Education Week. Theatre teacher Charles Atkins brought in circus arts instructor Jef Lambdin for a week of activities that covered multiple subject areas and several principles of learning.

  • Innovation Squadcast Episode 2: What is STEAM?

    Episode two of the Innovation Squadcast looks to define what STEAM is and how it looks in Berkeley County School District with the help from Gina Boyd, BCSD's Science Coordinator, and STEAM experts from Clemson University.

  • BCA to host Fine Arts College Fair for all BCSD students

    On October 3, Berkeley Center for the Arts on the campus of Goose Creek High will host a Fine Arts College Fair. It's an event during which organizers hope that students will learn more about arts offerings at colleges and universities and what career paths are available.

  • Innovation Squadcast Episode 1: Personalized Learning

    In episode one, we discuss the framework for Personalized Learning developed by the South Carolina Department of Education and interview teachers in Berkeley County who are transforming their classrooms to personalize learning for all students.
