Westview Middle is excited to introduce its families to the school’s new principal, Courtenaye Johnson.
Families are invited to come out to Sweet Frog in Goose Creek for a Spirit Night and Meet and Greet with Johnson on Monday, July 27.
Johnson studied secondary education and history – with a minor in geography – at Simon Fraser University. She attained her Master of Education (School Administration) through the University of South Carolina, where she is currently enrolled in the Education Specialist program.
Johnson’s 21-year education career includes 12 years in Berkeley County School District. Johnson has spent 15 years in the classroom, teaching mostly social studies at the middle and high school level. Her experience spans two countries and three different states. Within Berkeley County, she taught seventh grade social studies at Sedgefield Middle for six years. She most recently served as an assistant principal at Berkeley Middle, and previously served as a Title 1 facilitator at Cross High for two years.
Johnson said she is honored to serve as the next principal of Westview Middle.
“As both an educator and a member of the Westview community, I am excited to partner with our staff, students and families to build on the school's many strengths and continue moving forward together,” she said.
Westview families can join Johnson at Sweet Frog between 6 and 7:30 p.m. (the actual Spirit Night is 5 to 8 p.m.; a portion of the proceeds will go back to the school). Sweet Frog is located at 117 St. James Ave. in Goose Creek.
