After school activities canceled; September 27 an eLearning Day for BCSD students, staff

Due to forecasted impacts of Hurricane Helene, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) students will learn from home and complete eLearning Day assignments on Friday, September 27. The storm system is expected to bring sustained winds exceeding 30 miles per hour, with gusts potentially reaching 40 miles per hour, creating hazardous travel conditions for school buses. All after-school activities and after-school care programs will close at 6pm this evening.

All schools and offices will be closed Friday, and before and after-school care programs are canceled. As the storm system is projected to move out of the area that afternoon, after school activities may resume after 4pm on Friday.

Students will complete eLearning assignments from home via Schoology, SeeSaw, or other designated virtual learning platforms. Specific information about assignments will be provided by the student’s teacher and/or school. Teachers will share information regarding their office hours to support students completing eLearning assignments at home. More information here: eLearning Day FAQs.

BCSD officials work in partnership with Berkeley County Emergency Management and receive regular updates regarding the weather from the National Weather Service.

As safety and security is our number one priority, officials will continue to monitor the weather and assess any resulting damage.

Schools and offices will reopen and resume normal operations on Monday, September 30.
