With an extensive background in school leadership, Aimee Fulmer is excited to join Nexton Elementary as the school’s new principal this year. Families are invited to come out to the school on Wednesday, July 22 for a special meet and greet event with Ms. Fulmer.
Fulmer studied elementary education at Charleston Southern University, where she also received her Masters Degree in School Administration. She furthered her education by studying Early Childhood Education at the College of Charleston, and also has her Education Specialist degree in Superintendency from The Citadel. She is currently enrolled at Clemson University to receive her doctorate.
Fulmer’s education career in Berkeley County School District Started in 1997 when she joined Devon Forest Elementary at a fifth grade teacher. She became a teacher evaluator in 2002 before stepping into her first administrative role in 2005, when she joined Whitesville Elementary as assistant principal. She spent 2008-2010 serving as assistant principal at Berkeley Intermediate (now Moncks Corner Elementary). She has since served as principal of Westview Elementary and Bowen’s Corner Elementary. Her other former titles in the district include Director of Administrative Services and Student Assignment from 2020-2021, and Chief Human Resources Officer from 2023-2026.
However, among all her impactful roles, Fulmer said elementary principalship is where her passion and purpose are most aligned.
“I’m grateful for this experience and excited to return to the school community, where partnering with students, teachers, staff and families creates the greatest impact and makes the work most meaningful,” she said.
July 22’s meet and greet will be a very casual, drop-in style event held at the school. The school will receive families from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Kona Ice will be on site for families to purchase some sweet treats.
