student high fiving staff

April is Month of the Military Child -- and Marrington Elementary knows how to show their military families some love.

April 22 was designated Purple up Day in Berkeley County School District; teachers, students, administrators and district officers were all encouraged to wear purple in support of all military families.

Some schools had special events going on as well. Marrington Elementary asked its military family members to show up at the school to greet students upon arrival with high-fives. Of course, everybody was decked out in purple.

Later in the morning, the school did a quick Purple Parade in the bus loop and gathered for a big group photo.
