Moncks Corner Elementary is excited to introduce the school community to its new principal, Tara Baker.
Families are encouraged to come out and enjoy “Popsicles with the Principal” with Ms. Baker on Thursday, July 30; more information is below.
Baker pursued liberal studies at Limestone College. She received her Masters Degree in special education through the College of Charleston, and also has her Master of Education degree in educational leadership from The Citadel.
Baker has spent all 20 years of her education career in Berkeley County School District. She served as a special services teacher at Whitesville Elementary for six years before joining Sangaree Intermediate as a Title 1 facilitator. She served as an administrative assistant at Howe Hall AIMS for three years and then joined Nexton Elementary in 2015 as an assistant principal. She was named principal of Sangaree Elementary in 2020.
Baker said she is excited to build meaningful connections with students, staff and families at Moncks Corner Elementary.
“What I am looking forward to most is becoming part of a new community where I can support student success, collaborate with dedicated educators, and help create a positive and inclusive learning environment,” Baker said. “I look forward to listening, learning, and understanding the strengths and needs of the school while working together to build on its successes.”
Baker added, “I am eager to inspire others, celebrate achievements, and foster a culture of trust, respect, and continuous improvement. I look at this as an opportunity to grow as a leader while making a positive impact on the lives of students and the entire school community.”
Popsicles with the Principal is being organized as a drop-in at the school on July 30 between 5 and 6:30 p.m. Families are encouraged to come out and meet Baker – and enjoy some popsicles.
