This week, schools across our district will recognize Anti-Bullying Week! Let's continue promoting this year's theme, "Be Kind, Words Don't Rewind," reminding our students that words have an impact. Once spoken or shared, words cannot always be taken back, so let's encourage our students to choose words that uplift, include, and inspire rather than hurt. Plan to wear Orange on Wednesday for Unity Day.

National Art Honor Society Members: Nominations are in! Please go to ROOMS and vote for the 2026-27 officers. Congratulations to all the nominees! Voting will conclude on Friday @1pm.

Interested in business, entrepreneurship, marketing, leadership, or just want to get more involved at Philip Simmons High School? Come to our next DECA meeting! We’ll be discussing plans for the year, upcoming opportunities, and ways to get involved with DECA. The meeting is Thursday October 22nd at 8:15AM-8:50 AM in Coach McCauley’s room (201). The PSH Ed-Op College Fair is coming soon. On November 2, 2026, Juniors and Seniors are invited to sign up and attend the college fair. Students can explore college and university options, meet representatives, and discover majors and career paths. Students must register to attend and pick up a permission slip from School Counseling.

Attention Seniors - The school counseling office noticed that several of you are using the Common App for your college applications. You are reminded that if you do not add Mrs. Lawrence or Mrs. Mabry as your school counselor in Common App, we cannot upload your transcript or enter pertinent information about you. Please check the FERPA section in your Common App as soon as possible. Make sure you are using your counselor's correct email address, A-L : Lawrencesa@bcsdschools.net or M-Z: mabrye@bcsdschools.net. Don't forget that for the first big deadline for in-state schools for early action is Oct.15th! IF your application requires a recommendation from a school counselor, please provide your counselor with either a resume and/or senior brag sheet ASAP.

BCSD is hosting a Anti-Bullying Poster & Slogan Contest. The deadline to submit your entry is Thursday, Oct 22. High schoolers can design an impactful poster and slogan addressing empathy and standing up, digitally or traditional media. The submission must contact both a poster design and a slogan and should be submitted to Mrs. Mabry. Winners will be recognized a an upcoming BCSD Board Meeting.
