About MMSOA

Marrington Middle School of the Arts auditorium

Marrington Middle School of the Arts serves students who are rising sixth graders from Howe Hall AIMS or Marrington Elementary along with students who are identified as artistically gifted and talented through BCSD's STEP programs. Students have the opportunity to participate in one of the following Fine Arts concentrations: band, chorus, dance, orchestra, theater or visual arts. Students may also choose to participate in electives such as PE, piano, music, and several technology focused classes.

Because of its commitment to fine arts in education, teachers at MMSOA incorporate an arts integrated approach to teaching where students construct and demonstrate understanding of concepts and ideas through art forms. MMSOA is a frequent recipient of the Distinguished Arts Program grant from the South Carolina Department of Education. Whether planning for students’ academic futures or for the stage, MMSOA's faculty and staff are dedicated to providing the best academic and artistic education for their students.
