Virtual Summer Enrichment Activities

These activities provide parents and students with a variety of virtual opportunities to enhance learning throughout the summer. Each day has a different learning focus and will encourage creativity and critical thinking.

Monday, June 29 - Visual/Performing Arts

Elementary Activity

  • We are all artists! Young artists beautifully recreated works of art. You don’t have to be perfect to be an artist! What would you create?

Secondary Activity

  • What can artists do with 3D printing? Watch this video to see how one artist used 3D printing. If you could, what would you create and why?

 

Tuesday, June 30 - Science/Social Studies

Elementary Activity

  • Want to go to camp but they are all closed?  Take a trip to Camp Bob Cooper and explore the cypress swamp.  

     

    Cypress Swamp

    Write or draw what you learned.

Monday, July 1 - Healthy Habits

Elementary Activity

  • Play a fun game to decide which foods are healthy!

Secondary Activity

  • Make sure you wash your hands long enough! Use these tips and songs with 20 second choruses to have fun while staying healthy! Can you find other songs with 20 second choruses??

 

Thursday, July 2 - Work/Life Skills/WBL

Elementary Activity

  • Write and mail a letter/card to a family member that lives in another house. #Communication

Secondary Activity

  • Plan and cook a meal for your family. #Initiative

 

Friday, July 3 - Literacy

Elementary Activity

  • Listen to the story Drum Dream Girl.


    Use a repeating pattern to create a rhythm or song using your hands or another instrument (create mini drums). Share your song with others. Can they identify the repeating pattern? Have them clap along!

Secondary Activity

  • Search for the lyrics to your favorite song. Write out the lyrics and try to add a verse or change the words to personalize it to your own experiences. Challenge: Record yourself performing the new version of the song.

 

Monday, July 6 - Visual/Performing Arts

Elementary Activity

  • Explore some of Disney’s at-home arts activities! Do you feel like imagining a frozen castle like Elsa or learning some dance moves like Aladdin? Check this out!

Tuesday, July 7 - Science/Social Studies

Elementary Activity

  • View the live webcams at the zoo. 

    San Diego Zoo

    National Zoo

    What was your favorite animal?  Draw and write a fact about the animal.

Secondary Activity

  • View the live webcams at the zoo. 

    San Diego Zoo

    National Zoo

    Compare the habitats of two of the animals.  How are they alike?  How are they different?  Could the animal survive in South Carolina Ecosystem?
