PSH art students complete portraits for children in Nigeria
Published on Tuesday, March 14, 2023
Two years ago, Philip Simmons High art teacher Paige Duvall wanted her students to get involved in the spirit of giving back while using their artistic talents.
Duvall came across an organization called The Memory Project, which pairs art students with children living in orphanages or group homes around the world. For the past couple of years, Philip Simmons High art students have participated in making these portraits for the program using funds from the school’s PTSA. Read original story.
The school sends the portraits to the organization, which then delivers them to the children – often in dangerous and actively hostile locations.
The students have just finished their sixth round of Memory Project portraits that were recently delivered to Nigeria – check out video.
Way to go, Philip Simmons art students!
